CONTRIBUTION TO KNOWLEDGE ON THE TAXONOMIC COMPOSITION AND DISTRIBUTION OF NOCTUOID MOTHS (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUOIDEA) OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The paper contains data on the distribution of 265 species of Noctuoid moths (Lepidoptera: Noctuoidea), that are little-known, new for different regions or local and rare in Ukraine. One species, Episema amasina, is reliably registered for the first time in Ukraine and Europe as a whole; four species, Eublemma porphyrina, Grammodes bifasciata, Oncocnemis nigricula and Conistra ragusae, are recorded for the first time in Ukraine; three species: Dysauxes famula, Aporophyla nigra and Divaena haywardi are first revealed on the mainland of Ukraine; and one species, Mythimna congrua is found for the first time in the Ukrainian Carpathians and western part of Ukraine as a whole. A number of species appeared to be recorded for the first time in certain regions of Ukraine: 27 species — in Poltava Region, 25 — in Odesa Region, 19 — in Kirovohrad Region, 17 — in Kherson Region, 12 — in Ivano-Frankivsk Region, 9 — in Vinnytsia Region, 8 — in Zaporizhzhia Region, 7 — in Kyiv Region, 6 each — in Donetsk and Khmelnytskyi Regions, 5 each — in Chernihiv, Luhansk and Mykolaiv Regions, 4 each — in Volyn and Zhytomyr Regions, 3 — in Rivne Region, 2 each — in Chernivtsi, Sumy and Ternopil Regions, and one each — in Cherkasy, Kharkiv and Zakarpattia Regions. Moreover, new records for a number of local, rare and little-known (yet insufficiently studied in Ukraine) species, are also given.
